Here's a a quick summary of what to look forward to this year, and quite possibly the next, as far as BL C-dramas go. I won't go into much detail here, reserving full attention to each drama as and when they will be screened. Let's start with the most anticipated one!

IMMORTALITY
Great news! A couple of days ago this much awaited series successfully cleared the censorship process, therefore it's basically hot and ready for its launch into orbit, just like a huge bunch of fireworks...
Buone notizie! Un paio di giorni fa questa attesissima serie ha passato l'ostacolo della censura, quindi in teoria potrebbe essere lanciato in orbita da un momento all'altro, come un gran fuoco artificiale...
It's possibly the most anticipated BL/fantasy live-action since the mega success of The Untamed. The novel it's been adapted from, The Husky and His White Cat Shizun (written by Meatbum Doesn't Eat Meat), has been devoured by a large number of fans who simply cannot wait for the characters of Mo Ran (Arthur Chen) and Chu Wan Ning (Luo Yun Xi) to hit the small screen in the flesh.
Si tratta probabilmente della serie BL/fantasy post-The Untamed più attesa in assoluto. La novel da cui è stata tratta, L'Husky e il suo Gatto Bianco Shizun (scritta da Meatbun Doesn't Eat Meat), è stata divorata da un gran numero di fan che non vedono l'ora di vedere i personaggi di Mo Ran (Arthur Chen) e Chu Wan Ning (Luo Yun Xi) sul piccolo schermo.
That said, it remains to be seen when Tencent will decide to screen Immortality, since the period between May and September will be packed with historical dramas related to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party. Hence, if the 50 episode-long series doesn't hit the screen pretty soon, it will definitely be postponed 'til next Autumn.
Detto ciò, vedremo quando Tencent deciderà di lanciare Immortality, visto che il periodo tra maggio e settembre sarà quasi esclusivamente dedicato a serie di carattere storico in linea con le celebrazioni del primo centenario dalla fondazione del Partito Comunista Cinese. Quindi, se il drama di 50 episodi non verrà messo online tra pochissimo, dovremo sicuramente attendere fino a settembre.
TALE OF THE WONDERERS
Also known as Word of Honor, this 23 episode-long series is actually scheduled to go live on Youku this Tuesday 23rd February, and it's one of the many adaptations from the one and only Priest, the author of Guardian and Legend of Fei.
Conosciuta anche con il nome di Word of Honor, la serie di 36 episodi dovrebbe iniziare martedì 23 febbraio su Youku. Si tratta di uno dei numerosi adattamenti dalle novel di Priest, l'autrice di Guardian e Legend of Fei.
The plot tells the story of two martial artists who embark on an adventure to find a legendary treasure. The main characters are played by Zhang Zhe Han and Simon Gong. In truth I'm not expecting huge excitement from this one, but I will certainly give it a go!
La storia narra le avventure di due maestri di arti marziali che s'imbarcano in un'avventura al fine di trovare un leggendario tesoro. I due protagonisti della serie sono Zhang Zhe Han e Simon Gong. Sinceramente non mi aspetto molto da questo drama ma gli darò sicuramente una chance!
WINNER IS KING
Immortality aside, this is the costume BL series I am most looking forward to! One reason is obvious: the two leading actors are absolutely gorgeous... Tan Jian Ci (Winter Begonia) and Chen Zhe Yuan (Handsome Siblings) even look like one another, and the chemistry between them is already visible from the stills. So I'm kind of hopeful that this one (alongside Immortality) will give us the best BL vibes this year.
A parte Immortality, questa è la serie BL in costume che attendo con più trepidazione! La prima ragione è ovvia: i due protagonisti sono bellissimi... Tan Jian Ci (Winter Begonia) e Chen Zhe Yuan (Handsome Siblings) si somigliano come due gocce d'acqua, e la chimica tra di loro è già palpabile dalle immagini sinora disponibili. Spero quindi che questa serie (insieme a Immortality) ci doni per quest'anno le sensazioni BL più belle.
This is also an adaptation from a Priest novel, and it will benefit greatly from the director of Guardian, Zhou Yuan Zhou, whose camera language was undoubtedly captivating there, making the most of his actor's close-ups. The story is also extremely interesting, since it's a mix of wuxia and steampunk! It would make a great end of year gift.
Anche questa serie è un adattamento da una novel di Priest, e godrà del contributo del regista di Guardian, Zhou Yuan Zhou, il cui linguaggio cinematico è indubbiamente accattivante, ottenendo il massimo dai primi piani dei suoi attori. La trama è interessantissima, un mix tra wuxia e steampunk! Sarebbe un bel regalo di fine anno.
HEAVEN OFFICIAL'S BLESSING
This is not widely publicised yet, but the live-action from the BL novel Tian Guan Ci Fu by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (The Untamed) is in the works, although just in the first stages of casting. I am looking forward to the unveiling of the two male leads. Rumor has it that one of them might be Lu Han, who would be perfect for the part of the cute and sweet Xie Lian. It will also be directed by Chan Ka Lam, of The Untamed fame too. For this one we shall have to wait 'til next year, but in the meantime we can read the novel or watch the donghua on Youtube.
Questa serie non è ancora stata molto pubblicizzata ma si tratta di un adattamento dalla webnovel BL Tian Guan Ci Fu di Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (The Untamed). Al momento il cast non è ancora stato svelato, ma si rumoreggia che uno dei protagonisti possa essere Lu Han, che effettivamente sarebbe perfetto nella parte del dolce Xie Lian. Il regista sarà lo stesso di The Untamed, Chan Ka Lam. Per questo drama dovremo sicuramente attendere sino al prossimo anno, ma nel frattempo possiamo leggere la novel o guardare il donghua (anime) su Youtube.
CHASING THE LIGHT
Finally, I am going to mention two contemporary dramas adaptations from BL novels.
E per finire, vado a menzionare due drama contemporanei sempre tratti da novel BL.
The first one is really interesting as it delves with the close relationship between two troubled boys who grew up in a problematic environment and strive to find redemption together. The two beautiful leading actors are up-and-coming stars Fan Cheng Cheng (The World of Fantasy) and Wang An Yu (Forever love, Go Go Squid 2 - supp.) It has only 24 episodes and I expect a happy ending: I simply cannot wait for this one!
Il primo ha una trama interessantissima poiché s'accentra sulla forte amicizia tra due ragazzi difficili provenienti da famiglie problematiche che cercheranno insieme la redenzione. I due bellissimi attori principali sono due nuove star, Fan Cheng Cheng (The World of Fantasy) e Wang An Yu (Forever Love, Go Go Squid 2 - supp.). Di solo 24 puntate, mi aspetto che finisca felicemente: non vedo l'ora!
SEIZING DREAMS
The second series adapted from a BL novel is a sci-fi/fantasy/detective contemporary one which interests me quite a lot due to the fact that, well, I simply love actor/model Wang Rui Chang/Richards Wang. So far I have seen him in his costume dramas, the fabulous The Eternal Love 1 & 2, and In a Class of Her Own. I have avoided his other "lighter" series as they are probably dire, so I am expecting to see what kind of performance he can give in a different kind of setting. In this drama Wang Rui Chang acts with his mate from In a Class of Her Own, Bi Wen Jun, also 23 years of age. The series (36 ep.) is being filmed now. Fingers crossed, we might get lucky and see it before the end of 2021.
La seconda serie non in costume adattata da una novel BL è un sci-fi/fantasy/detective che m'interessa molto semplicemente poiché adoro l'attore/modello Wang Rui Chang/Richards Wang. Sinora l'ho visto solo lavorare in drama in costume, il favoloso The Eternal Love 1 & 2 e In a Class of Her Own. Ho accuratamente evitato le sue serie "leggere" perché mi paiono orrende, quindi sono molto curiosa di osservare la sua performance in un contesto diverso. In questo drama Wang Rui Chang ritorna a recitare con Bi Wen Jun (In a Class of Her Own), anch'egli 23enne. Le riprese della serie (36 episodi) sono già iniziate, per cui, con un po' di fortuna, potremmo anche vederla per fine anno.
